AirLayer

This is one of the first documented trees ever worked on. An almost chuhin sized Trident maple with a small leaf size that unfortunately had a very poor root base. it was air layered to create a new nebari and reduce the height a little.  The initial air layering was not a complete success and so several root grafts were performed over the years to fill up gaps.  It is now growing far too vigorously on the benches at Saruyama and requires some attention.

 Apologies for the poor photography.
