Kangaeru Hito – Thinking People

On one of his trips back to Japan for Taikanten in 2013 Peter was approached by a magazine looking for interesting stories.  They were doing a special feature on craftsmen and people who work. The title of the overall piece which featured 25 interviews was “Japanese workers”. The theme of the text is a little about the interesting nature of Peter’s path into bonsai and the fact he is a foreigner in a Japanese world, as well as the story behind the name “Saruyama” which sounds a lot stranger in Japanese and caused a great amount of amusement.

The title of the interview is “My objective is to perform artless art”
