A chance meeting with a French speaking bonsai tour guide from Osaka led to a collaboration between Peter and the nascent fashion and culture magazine, Transparent who were keen to showcase the work of young and international artists to a contemporary Japanese audience. This was the starting point for both parties as Peter was just finishing his apprenticeship and starting out by himself.

Shot on location in Osaka, the photographs attempt to convey some of the meaning of bonsai across to an audience who have had very little exposure to it. It was an interesting departure from the traditional world in which the previous five years had been spent.
